Good morning, and happy Wednesday! 🍫
Today is National Chocolate Day 🍪, and if ever there was a holiday worth celebrating, this might be it! Whether you prefer milk chocolate, dark chocolate, chocolate cake, or a good old-fashioned candy bar, today is the perfect excuse to indulge in a little something sweet. And remember, chocolate comes from cocoa beans, which grow on trees. So technically, chocolate is a plant-based food, right? 😉
Here's wishing you a wonderful Wednesday filled with sweet moments, good news, and maybe a little chocolate along the way!

Fans of the beloved movie Grease will recognize Barry Pearl and Jamie Donnelly, while classic television enthusiasts can look forward to Todd Bridges from Diff'rent Strokes.
The celebrity guest list also includes:

It's an exciting mix of familiar faces, talented voice actors, and pop culture personalities spanning generations of entertainment.
More Than Just a Comic Convention
What makes Nerd Con special is its combination of entertainment, education, and community involvement.
The event celebrates the imagination and creativity behind comics, science fiction, anime, and fandom culture while bringing people together to share their interests.
Cosplayers can celebrate their favorite characters, creative minds can find inspiration, and families can enjoy exploring a world of pop culture together. Shopping opportunities with vendors add another dimension to the experience.
For young people especially, events like Nerd Con offer an opportunity to discover new interests, express their creativity, and connect with others who share their enthusiasm.
And because admission is free, families can enjoy the experience without the expense of purchasing convention tickets.
A Community Effort That Makes It All Possible
Behind the colorful costumes and celebrity appearances is something equally worth celebrating: a community working together to create an event everyone can enjoy.
Nerd Con is a partnership between the Chambers County Library System, the City of Mont Belvieu, The Eastern Rim Funny Book & Vintage Con, and Nerd Fest Texas, with support from MB Link.
The event remains free to the public thanks to the generosity of Chambers County, the City of Mont Belvieu, Barbers Hill ISD, participating vendors, and numerous local business sponsors.
Those sponsors include Raising Cane's, Buck's Pizza, Sonic locations in Mont Belvieu and Winnie, Firehouse Subs supporters, The Retro Exchange, High Voltage Ice Creamery, Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital, Anahuac National Bank, Bricks & Minifigs Mont Belvieu, and Alter Ego Comics and Games.
It's a wonderful example of how libraries, local government, schools, and businesses can work together to bring something memorable to the community.

Two Children Safe Following Armed
Standoff in Crosby; Suspect Arrested
An hours-long standoff in Crosby ended Tuesday morning, October 27th, with a 22-year-old man in custody and two young children safely removed from the home.
According to authorities, Alexander Uriel Valadez allegedly threatened his brother with a gun following an argument around 1 a.m. at a residence in the 1300 block of Cherry Lane, near Highway 90.
When deputies arrived, Valadez reportedly refused to communicate with them and barricaded himself inside a house trailer with his two younger brothers, ages 6 and 9.
A SWAT team and hostage negotiators responded. After negotiations stalled, officers entered the residence and took Valadez into custody.
Both children were brought to safety without injuries.
Valadez has been charged with aggravated assault on a family member.
