Man Hospitalized Following Early-Morning Shooting Outside Baytown Bar
Baytown police are searching for a suspect following a shooting outside a bar in the 100 block of West Texas Avenue early Monday, October 26th.
Officers responded around 2:20 a.m. Investigators said a man entered the establishment and approached a female bartender. Later, near the rear exit, another man reportedly tried to convince him to leave. During the confrontation, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the man.
The victim was transported by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital. His condition has not been officially released.
The suspect remained at large as of the latest reports, and police have not released a description. The investigation is ongoing.
Man Fatally Shot on South Pruett Street; Suspect in Custody
A man was fatally shot Monday, October 26th, following an argument at a residence on South Pruett Street near West Main Street in Baytown.
According to Baytown police, the two men knew each other and became involved in an argument. Investigators said one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other.
An eyewitness told KPRC 2 that the victim had been riding a bicycle shortly before the shooting.
Police confirmed that the suspected shooter was taken into custody. The identities of those involved have not been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.

Baytown Family Reports Second
Swatting Incident; Police Explain Response
A Baytown family is raising concerns after police responded to a false emergency report at their home on Shoshoni Street on October 15th. The family says this was the second such incident at their residence since July.
The October 15th call falsely reported that a man had shot his wife and barricaded himself inside the home with a child. Officers responding to the reported emergency attempted to force open the front door before the homeowner opened it.
The homeowner was temporarily detained while officers searched the residence. Police said he was released from handcuffs once they determined the report was false.
The family has questioned the intensity of the response, particularly because they say they were previously told their address would be flagged following the July incident.
In a public statement, the Baytown Police Department explained that officers were responding to information suggesting an immediate threat to life and had to make decisions based on what was known at the time.
The department is investigating who made the false report.
Swatting involves making a false emergency report to trigger a police response at someone's location. Such incidents can endanger residents and responding officers while diverting emergency resources from legitimate calls.
