Liberty Lieutenant Suspended
After Reported Jail Access to
Father in Near-Drowning Case

A Liberty police lieutenant has been suspended pending an internal investigation after reportedly accessing the father involved in last week’s near-drowning case while he was being held in the Liberty County Jail on unrelated charges.

Officials confirm the situation has now been referred to the Texas Rangers for further review. The father, who was later released on bond, is part of an ongoing investigation into the incident that left three children hospitalized after being pulled from a pond on the family’s property.
