The Baytown Police Department says the officer at the center of an investigation into the alleged misuse of the department's Flock License Plate Reader (LPR) system has resigned as the investigation continues. The department has not released the officer's name or details about the specific allegations.

Police Chief John Stringer said both an internal affairs investigation and a criminal investigation remain underway. To help ensure transparency, the department requested assistance from the Harris County District Attorney's Office with the criminal investigation.

In an update posted Thursday, Chief Stringer said the investigation is still active and that the department is limited in what it can release at this time. He added that additional information will be shared as appropriate and thanked the community for its patience while investigators work to determine all the facts.

The case has drawn significant attention across Baytown because the Flock camera system is designed to help law enforcement locate vehicles connected to criminal investigations. Police officials have emphasized that the department takes allegations involving the system seriously and that accountability will follow if wrongdoing is confirmed.

The Baytown Police Department is once again asking for the community's help in locating 16-year-old Sasha Meuchel, who has been missing since May 18th.

According to police, Sasha was last seen at approximately 12:20 p.m. leaving a residence in the 2800 block of Specklebelly Drive in Baytown. She was wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans and may be in the Katy or Humble area.

Sasha is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, and an athletic build. She wears glasses and has a piercing in her left eyebrow, one piercing in her upper left ear, and three piercings in the lower part of her left ear.

Police say that even the smallest piece of information could help bring Sasha home safely. Anyone who has seen her or knows where she may be is asked to contact the Baytown Police Department at 281-422-8371 or the Baytown Criminal Investigation Division at 281-420-6646.

Update: Two Suspects Arrested After Baytown-Area Police Chase

Yesterday, we reported on a police chase that began in the Baytown area and ended near the East Beltway. Authorities have now confirmed that two suspects have been taken into custody following the pursuit.

According to Baytown police, the incident involved both a vehicle pursuit and a subsequent foot chase into a neighborhood before officers located and arrested the suspects. No additional information about the suspects or possible charges has been released at this time.

As the investigation continues, more details are expected to be released. We'll continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
