One of Baytown's Favorite Festivals
Returns in October

One of Baytown's biggest and most colorful annual celebrations is just around the corner!

Baytown's Grito Fest returns to Bicentennial Park on Saturday, October 3rd, for a full day of music, food, family fun and a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

The free community event will feature live entertainment, food and shopping vendors, family activities, competitions and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the sights, sounds and flavors of the day. Crowd favorites include the Grito Shout Competition, Accordion Competition, Jalapeño Eating Contest, and both the Backyard and Restaurant Salsa Contests.

Adding to its list of accomplishments, Grito Fest was named the 2025 Texas Travel Award winner for "Small to Mid-Market Community Event."

There's still plenty of time before the festival arrives, but if you enjoy great food, live music and celebrating the rich culture of our community, now's a great time to mark October 3rd on your calendar.

We'll share more details as the event gets closer.

Musicians of All Ages Invited to
Join Free Community Jazz Group

Have an instrument collecting dust in the closet? Always wished you had a chance to play with a group again? Or maybe you're a student whose school doesn't offer a band program? Here's an opportunity to make music, meet new people, and have some fun.

The Conflarma Community Jazz Ensemble is a free community music program open to musicians of all ages and experience levels. Whether you're an experienced player or looking to sharpen your skills, you'll have the chance to rehearse, learn, and perform alongside fellow music lovers in a welcoming environment.

The ensemble is led by a former Lee High School and Lee College Jazz Band member and places a special emphasis on giving students additional opportunities to grow as musicians.

Rehearsals begin Tuesday, September 15th, and will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Mockingbird Room at the Baytown Community Center.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own instruments and equipment.

If you've been looking for a reason to start playing again—or to keep the music going—this just might be it.
