Good morning, Neighbors- 🌞

Today is World Wish Day, marking the founding of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and celebrating the power of hope, kindness, and a simple wish coming true. It’s a good reminder of how much a small act can mean to someone else.

And here’s a little extra for our trivia fans—did you know John Cena holds the Guinness World Record for granting the most wishes through Make-A-Wish? He’s fulfilled more than 650 wishes and has never turned one down since he started in 2002.

Hope that gives you something to smile about this morning. Have a great day!

Investigation Ongoing Following
Possible Drowning at Off-Road Park

Authorities are investigating a possible drowning at Xtreme Off-Road Park on Gulf Pump Road in Crosby that happened shortly after noon yesterday.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the park after receiving a report that an adult male entered the water and did not resurface. The department’s dive team was also called to the scene as part of the search and recovery effort.

In a statement shared by the park, the victim was reportedly part of a group of four men who arrived without off-road vehicles and went to a nearby body of water shortly after entering the property. The park stated that the group encouraged one individual to attempt to cross the water, which is clearly marked as a no-swimming area.

The park also cited an eyewitness account claiming the other individuals left the scene and did not contact emergency services. Authorities have not confirmed those details, and the investigation remains ongoing. Officials say foul play has not been ruled out at this time.

This incident comes just a couple of weeks after another fatality at the same location, where warnings are posted advising visitors that swimming is not permitted and may be dangerous.

217 Pounds of Prescription Drugs
Safely Disposed at Baytown Event

The recent prescription drug take-back event hosted by the Baytown Police Department was a strong success, with local residents stepping up to safely dispose of unwanted medications.

During the event, the community turned in 217 pounds of prescription drugs, filling a total of 11 boxes. The effort helps prevent medications from falling into the wrong hands and keeps harmful substances out of the environment.

If you missed this round, another take-back event is expected later this year in October. In the meantime, Baytown residents can still safely dispose of medications year-round by using the department’s free Drug Drop Box located at the Public Safety Building, 3200 N. Main Street. The service also accepts sharps and is available with no questions asked.

Officials say community participation like this plays an important role in keeping neighborhoods safe and protecting local waterways.
