Good morning, Neighbors- 🌞
Today is National Picnic Day🧺, and it looks like the weather might actually cooperate for once—no last-minute to rescue sandwiches 🥪 from the wind or chase down napkins across the park. It’s one of those simple reminders that sometimes the best plans are the ones that get you outside for a bit, even if it’s just a quick lunch on a blanket or a snack on the porch.
If you had the perfect picnic, what would be in your basket—something homemade, or are you grabbing your favorites from around town?
Have a great day and enjoy a little fresh air if you can.

Goose Creek Students Launch Health Initiative on Energy Drink Use
A group of local high school students is stepping up to tackle a growing trend many teens see every day—energy drink overconsumption.
In a recent episode of The Goose Call, students introduced the Giants Care Collective, a student-led group focused on real conversations around health and wellness. Their first campaign centers on raising awareness about the effects of energy drinks, including impacts on sleep, focus, and overall health.
According to information shared by Goose Creek CISD, the initiative comes from what students are seeing firsthand in school hallways, where energy drinks have become a daily habit for many.
The group is working to educate fellow students on both the short- and long-term risks, while also encouraging healthier alternatives and better daily habits.
What makes the message stand out is who it’s coming from—students speaking directly to other students, creating a more relatable and honest conversation about choices that can affect everyday life.

Air Water America to Consolidate
Operations, Impacting Baytown Facility
Air Water America has announced plans to consolidate two of its U.S. subsidiaries, a move that will impact operations in Baytown.
According to a company press release, manufacturing operations currently based in Baytown will be phased out as production shifts to a facility in Georgia. The consolidation combines TOMCO Systems and Taylor-Wharton America into a single operation.
Company officials say the decision is intended to better align manufacturing capacity with market demand while maintaining product development and customer support.
The Baytown facility is expected to wind down operations in early 2026 as part of the transition.

Reminder: Sensory-Friendly
Touch-A-Truck Event
Set for Today in La Porte
Here’s a reminder about an upcoming community event designed with inclusivity in mind.
The La Porte Police Department is hosting a sensory-friendly Touch-A-Truck event today from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 3001 N. 23rd Street in La Porte.
The event gives families a chance to explore police units, fire trucks, EMS vehicles, and other city equipment in a calm, low-stress environment—without the noise and urgency typically associated with emergency situations.
Families of individuals with autism and other sensory or developmental challenges are especially encouraged to attend, but the event is open to the public.
Organizers say the goal is to create a welcoming space for hands-on learning, conversation, and connection within the community.
