Father Dies in Baytown Blaze—Son
Arrested After Fire Threats in Louisiana

Baytown police are investigating the death of a 73-year-old man who was found inside his burning home on Monday as a possible homicide.

Firefighters responded to the 1900 block of Chilton Drive Monday afternoon and discovered the body of Floyd Hadley inside the residence. While the cause of death has not yet been confirmed, investigators say they are treating the case as a homicide unless the autopsy reveals otherwise.

Just hours later, authorities in Louisiana arrested Floyd’s 40-year-old son, Clinton Hadley, after he allegedly threatened to set a building on fire in Slidell — about 30 miles outside of New Orleans.

According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, Clinton entered a business and demanded gas money, threatening to burn the place down if employees didn’t comply. He reportedly refused to leave when asked and initially gave deputies a false name.

Deputies later discovered that Clinton Hadley had an active hold out of Harris County and notified Baytown authorities.

At this time, Baytown police have not confirmed whether Clinton Hadley is a suspect in his father’s death, but said their investigation is ongoing.

Friday’s Quiz: Which of the following statements about conch shells is true?
Answer: C) Conch shells are created by sea snails as protective outer coverings

Conch shells are made by marine mollusks (sea snails), which secrete calcium carbonate to build and grow their spiral shells over time. They are not related to coral or volcanic activity and do not commonly produce pearls, though it can happen very rarely.
