Good Morning and Happy Wednesday, October 14th! ☀️
We've made it to the middle of the week, and today gives us a couple of reasons to celebrate! On this day in 1947, legendary pilot Chuck Yeager made history by becoming the first person to break the sound barrier in level flight✈️. Talk about taking things to new heights!
And on a much sweeter note, today is National Dessert Day! Whether your favorite is chocolate cake 🍰, homemade pie🥧, ice cream🍨, or a warm brownie🟫, you've got the perfect excuse to treat yourself.
So here's to a wonderful Wednesday! You don't have to break any records today, but you might want to make room for dessert! 🍰

Baytown Mother Pushes for
New School Safety Law in Honor of Son
A Baytown mother is working to turn a family tragedy into a proposed change in Texas law.
Rebecca Meismer is advocating for "Andrew's Law," named in memory of her 16-year-old son, Andrew Meismer, who died following an altercation with another student at Sterling High School in December 2025.
The proposed legislation would require serious physical assaults resulting in injuries at Texas schools to be reported to law enforcement, investigated, and reviewed to determine whether criminal charges should be filed.
Meismer believes stronger reporting requirements and accountability could help prevent similar tragedies. She has been discussing the proposal with local lawmakers and hopes to have legislation drafted.
Her goal is to ensure that serious incidents of school violence receive appropriate attention beyond school disciplinary procedures.
Watch the news report below to hear more about Andrew's Law and his mother's efforts.

Major Natural Gas Storage Project
Expanding Plans in Liberty County
A major energy infrastructure project planned for Liberty County is getting bigger.
NeuVentus, a Texas-based energy infrastructure developer, announced yesterday Tuesday, October 13th, that it is expanding the first phase of its Texas Reliability Underground (TRU) Hub natural gas storage project.
The expansion will increase the planned storage capacity from approximately 20 billion to 28 billion cubic feet of natural gas, with three underground storage caverns included in the first phase.
The project also includes a proposed 35-mile pipeline system with 10 connections to major natural gas pipelines serving the Texas Gulf Coast.
The underground salt caverns are designed to store natural gas and make it available when demand increases, including for power generation and liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities.
According to NeuVentus, the expansion is intended to meet growing demand for flexible natural gas storage along the Gulf Coast.
The company did not announce a construction completion date or additional jobs in its latest release.

How cold can temperatures drop on the Moon in permanently shadowed craters near its poles?
Last Quiz: Which bird is known for its incredible memory, hiding thousands of seeds each fall and remembering most of their locations months later?
Answer: A) Clark's Nutcracker is famous for its astonishing spatial memory. Each autumn, a single bird can harvest and bury up to 98,000 seeds across thousands of different hiding spots (called caches). Months later, during the harsh winter and spring, they use visual landmarks like trees, rocks, and logs to remember and successfully relocate the vast majority of their hidden food.
