Calgon Carbon Completes Major
Expansion at Crosby Facility
Calgon Carbon Corporation has completed a multimillion-dollar expansion of its Crosby facility, nearly doubling its capacity to process and reuse activated carbon.
Activated carbon is a material used to remove contaminants from water, air, and industrial products. The Crosby facility uses a specialized heating process to restore used carbon so it can be reused rather than discarded.
According to the company, the expansion will allow the facility to serve more industrial customers throughout the Gulf Coast while helping reduce waste and treatment costs.
Calgon Carbon acquired the Crosby facility in 2024. The company operates manufacturing and processing facilities across the United States and internationally.
Lee College Students Bring 1925
Phantom of the Opera to Life
A century-old silent movie is getting a new soundtrack, thanks to Lee College students and faculty.
On Thursday, October 22nd, the Lee College Performing Arts Center will present the 1925 silent film The Phantom of the Opera, accompanied by live music created and performed by student musicians, a small choir, and an opera singer.
Led by Lee College music instructor Dr. John Weinel, the performers will bring the film's suspense and drama to life with music that follows the action on screen. It's the first project of its kind for the college's Visual and Performing Arts program.
The performance begins at 7:30 p.m., and admission is free.
