🌮 Good Morning & Happy Tuesday!
It’s National Taco Day 🌮, which sounds like a pretty good excuse to let someone else handle the cooking today! 🌮
Plenty of restaurants are getting in on the celebration with Taco Day specials and deals, so keep an eye out for what’s being offered around town. Better yet, make it a reason to support one of our local restaurants. Grab a couple of tacos, try someplace you haven’t been before, or visit an old favorite. Supporting local businesses is always something worth celebrating. 💙
And here’s your little bit of “on this day” trivia: Instagram officially launched on October 6, 2010. 📱 Sixteen years later, it’s hard to imagine how many taco pictures alone have probably been posted since then!
Have a great Tuesday — and enjoy those tacos!

Baytown Police Warn Residents
About Impersonation Scam
Baytown Police are warning residents about a scam involving callers pretending to be members of the police department.
According to BPD, residents have reported receiving calls from someone impersonating a Baytown Police sergeant. The caller claims the person has a warrant for missed jury duty, unpaid fines or another court matter and then pressures them to take immediate action.
Police stress that BPD will never demand payment over the phone to clear a warrant, avoid arrest or resolve a missed jury duty summons.
In one recent case, the caller also appeared to know the resident's location and gave instructions based on where the person was at the time. Police said there are several ways scammers can obtain information about someone and cautioned that this does not necessarily mean the person is being physically followed or monitored.
BPD advises residents not to provide personal or financial information, send money, gift cards or cryptocurrency, or respond to threats of arrest. If someone claims to be with BPD or another government agency, hang up and independently find the agency's official phone number to verify the call.
Residents are also encouraged to review social media and phone location settings and avoid publicly sharing their location in real time.
If you receive a suspicious call, save any information about the caller and report it. If you believe there is an immediate threat to your safety, call 911.

Nurture Nature Festival
Returns This Saturday
One of Baytown's biggest outdoor family events is almost here! The Nurture Nature Festival returns this Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. at the Baytown Nature Center.
The free, come-and-go festival gives families a chance to explore the outdoors while learning about the wildlife and wetlands that make our area unique.
Activities include live animal encounters, stage shows, children's games, inflatables, bungee jumps, archery, a kid fishing tank, educational exhibits, food and more.
This year's festival also falls on World Migratory Bird Day, making it a perfect time to learn more about the thousands of migratory birds that pass through the Baytown area each fall.
Admission is free and no tickets are required. Because parking at the Nature Center is limited, a small fee applies for on-site parking. Free parking and shuttle service will be available at West Town Shopping Center, 4220 Decker Drive.
🎥 Watch the video below for a preview of this year's Nurture Nature Festival.

Three Arrested Following Armed
Robbery at Baytown Buc-ee’s
Three people were arrested following an armed robbery at the Buc-ee’s in the 4000 block of East Freeway in Baytown, according to Baytown Police.
Police said the robbery occurred Sept. 3 when three individuals approached a woman in the parking lot while displaying handguns and demanded her purse. When she refused, a struggle followed and the woman was struck in the face before the three fled in a vehicle.
During the investigation, detectives reviewed video footage and identified a license plate associated with the vehicle. Police said the plate was entered into the department’s Flock Safety automatic license plate recognition system, and Jersey Village Police located the vehicle within approximately an hour.
Three people in the vehicle were later identified in connection with the robbery. Police said multiple firearms were recovered and the individuals also had outstanding warrants and were suspects in other aggravated robberies in the Houston and Harris County area.
Baytown Police reminded residents to stay aware of their surroundings, particularly in parking lots and other public areas, keep valuables out of sight and report suspicious activity.
