And believe it or not, today is also the first day of fall! 🍂 You certainly wouldn’t know it by stepping outside. With the heat we’ve been having lately, those crisp fall temperatures seem a long way off.
So if you celebrate the arrival of fall with an ice cream cone today, there’s just one rule: eat fast! You may be racing the Texas heat to finish it before it melts all over your hand. 😄

Lee College Reaches
Record Fall Enrollment
Lee College has set a new enrollment record, with 9,616 students enrolled for fall 2026 across its campuses and programs.
That’s a 7.7% increase over fall 2025 and 673 students more than the college’s previous record of 8,943, set in 2024.
Dual enrollment is also growing, increasing 7% over last fall as more area high school students take college courses while completing their high school education.
Lee College says students enrolled this fall are pursuing a mix of university-transfer degrees, technical programs and workforce credentials.
BOSS Heavy Haul Adds New
Rail Service at Dayton Facility
BOSS Heavy Haul has expanded operations at its Dayton facility with a new rail service designed to make it easier to move very large and heavy equipment through the area.
The new connection links a nearby rail siding to the company's 80-acre Dayton yard by a half-mile route with no bridge crossings. That can simplify the permitting process for oversized loads such as transformers, turbines and generators.
The expansion also complements a 15-acre Foreign-Trade Zone added at the Dayton facility earlier this year, allowing certain imported goods to be stored there before duties and taxes are due.
The company says the combination of rail access, heavy-lift equipment and storage will help the Dayton location handle more specialized freight moving through the Gulf Coast region.
