Good morning, Friends ☀️

Today is National Sweet Tea Day AND National Hawaiian Shirt Day — which may be the most relaxed combination we've had all summer. 🍹🌺

So here's your official Friday dress code: pull out that Hawaiian shirt — the louder, the better — pour yourself a tall glass of sweet tea🧋, and start easing your way toward the weekend. 😂

After all, it's August in Texas. The tea should be cold, the shirt should be colorful, and the weekend should get here as quickly as possible!

Have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend! 💙

Baytown Begins Phase Two of
Citywide Water Meter Replacements

The City of Baytown will begin Phase Two of its citywide water meter replacement project next week, focusing on meters that weren't replaced during the first round of work.

The project is expected to take 10–12 months, and meter replacements are free. Residents will receive notice before crews arrive, and most replacements should take less than 30 minutes. Water service will be temporarily shut off while the work is completed.

Crews will only need access to the water meter — they will not ask to enter residents' homes — and workers will carry identification and display their company logo.

The upgraded system will eventually give customers real-time access to their water usage information. The City says it will provide work locations and schedule updates as the project progresses.

“I Know That Face…” Could Your Glasses Someday Remember the Name?

Ever run into someone you know you know...but their name has completely disappeared from your brain? 😂 Someday, your glasses might be able to help.

Meta has been exploring facial-recognition technology for smart glasses, and a recently published patent application offers another glimpse at what could someday be possible. The technology described could potentially recognize people and use information about the wearer's relationships and surroundings to provide more personalized information.

That doesn't mean you'll be able to buy glasses tomorrow that identify everyone walking toward you. A patent is no guarantee that a product or feature will ever reach consumers.

But then again, remember Dick Tracy talking into his wristwatch? Once upon a time, that was pure comic-strip science fiction. Today, people routinely make calls, send messages and get reminders from watches on their wrists.

So glasses that someday whisper, “That's Bob — you met him at...”?

Sounds a little strange today. But who knows what we'll all consider perfectly normal tomorrow? 👓⌚
