Good morning, Neighbors! ☀️
Apparently, whoever plans these national days knew exactly what they were doing, because today is both National Fajita Day AND National ICEE Day! 🌮🥤
So today's assignment is pretty simple: find yourself a sizzling plate of fajitas — preferably one that arrives at the table making enough noise to get everyone's attention — and follow it up with something ICEE-cold. 😂
After all, in the middle of an August in Texas, something sizzling followed by something frozen sounds like a perfectly reasonable plan!
And if those fajitas happen to come from one of our great local restaurants…well, we'd call that a Tuesday very well spent. 💙
Have a terrific Tuesday!

It's Here: Pique's New Caffeine-Free Afternoon Energy
I quit my afternoon coffee. Not because I wanted to — because I found something better.
You know that wall you hit every day around 2–3 PM? I used to just accept it as the cost of doing anything. Another coffee, a quick spike, then the crash — and somehow I'd still feel dehydrated by dinner.
Then I tried X·E Fountain, Pique's brand-new electrolyte energy drink, and I genuinely wasn't ready for how good "no crash" could feel.
No caffeine jitters. No 4 PM slump. Just clean, steady energy that actually hydrates me instead of draining me. It's built with a premium Vitamin B Complex for natural cellular energy, Magnesium Malate + Taurate for real focus, and a full electrolyte blend that makes it feel like a treat, not a chore.
The cucumber-celery-lime flavor is so crisp and refreshing — it's basically stolen my afternoon coffee slot completely.

La Porte ISD Looks to Attract Families
as School Choices Grow
As students return to class, La Porte ISD is beginning the new school year with a focus on attracting and retaining families as public schools face growing competition from other educational options.
The district, which serves about 7,000 students, saw enrollment decline by approximately 140 students last school year. La Porte ISD is highlighting programs designed to give families more choices, including open enrollment, college partnerships and alternative learning opportunities.
District leaders say the goal is to make sure families know what La Porte ISD has to offer while continuing to improve opportunities for current students.

Can It Float? Anything But a Boat Race
Coming to Mont Belvieu
Things could get a little wet — and probably a little wacky — at Mont Belvieu City Park! 🚣💦
The Anything But a Boat Race 2026 is coming Saturday, September 5th, at 10 a.m., challenging participants to build their own unconventional floating creations and race them against their neighbors.
The catch? It can be just about anything...except a traditional boat!
The event is open to ages 13 and older, and entry is free. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to the winners — although we're guessing simply making it across the water without sinking might earn a few bragging rights of its own. 😂
No boating or captain experience is required, but creativity and a willingness to get wet probably won't hurt!

Stolen Deputy’s Patrol Car Chase
Ends in Rollover Near Baytown
A man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he stole a Harris County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle and led deputies on a high-speed chase that ended in a rollover near Baytown.
According to HCSO, the incident began Saturday morning when deputies responded to a trespassing call at a business in the 13700 block of the East Freeway. Authorities say the man fought with deputies before getting into a patrol vehicle and driving away.
The pursuit continued for about 10 miles, at times reaching triple-digit speeds, as the stolen vehicle traveled east on the East Freeway toward Baytown. The driver later headed south on Spur 330 and exited onto Bayway Drive.
A pursuing deputy used a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle, which became disabled and rolled over. Authorities say the suspect climbed from the vehicle and attempted to run but was taken into custody nearby.
The chase lasted approximately nine minutes. No deputies or members of the public were injured.
The suspect was later identified as 35-year-old David Hopson IV. He faces charges of assault on a peace officer, felony evading arrest and theft of property valued between $30,000 and $150,000.
