Good morning, Neighbors👋
Today is National Waitstaff Day — a perfect reminder that behind every refilled tea glass, extra ranch request, split check, and “Can we get one more thing?” is somebody working hard to keep things running smoothly. 🍽️❤️
Our local servers, waitstaff, bartenders, and restaurant teams put up with a lot with a smile, from lunch rush chaos to after-church crowds and everything in between. So if you’re dining out today, maybe leave a little extra patience, kindness, or even an extra tip if you’re able. And remember… if your server writes down absolutely nothing and still gets every order right, you may actually be witnessing a superpower.
Have a wonderful Thursday, stay safe out there, and don’t forget to thank the folks helping keep our local restaurants welcoming and running strong! 🍽️

Remember: Overnight I-10 Closure Planned Next Friday at Garth Road
Drivers are being advised of an overnight closure along Interstate 10 at Garth Road tomorrow, Friday, May 22nd, as CenterPoint Energy and TxDOT perform electrical grid improvement work.
According to officials, all eastbound and westbound main lanes and feeder roads at Garth Road will temporarily close from 11 p.m. Friday, May 22nd, until 4 a.m. Saturday, May 23rd. Crews will be removing overhead power lines and connecting a new underground electrical circuit designed to improve long-term reliability and help support future growth in the area.
Motorists should expect delays, consider alternate routes, and follow posted traffic signs and directions from crews on site.

Baytown Man Sentenced to 9 Years
in Federal Drug Trafficking Case
A Baytown man has been sentenced to 108 months in federal prison following a drug trafficking investigation involving methamphetamine and cocaine, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas.
Federal officials said Terry Lynn Clay, 57, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine. Court documents stated Clay was involved in trafficking nearly 1,000 grams of methamphetamine and more than 500 grams of cocaine in 2021.
Authorities said the investigation found Clay purchased methamphetamine in Houston before transferring the narcotics to another individual for further distribution. He was later arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety and eventually transferred into federal custody.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Clay was the final defendant sentenced in the case, which involved 10 defendants overall.

Lee College Summer Camp Lets Kids Learn About Animal Care and Pet Careers
Animal-loving kids will have a chance to learn more about pets, animal care, and careers working with animals during the Humane Heroes Camp 2026 program offered through the Lee College Center for Workforce & Community Development this summer.
The camps are divided by grade level and include activities focused on responsible pet ownership, hands-on projects, and learning about different animal-related professions. Some camps for students in grades 3 through 8 will also include visits to local animal shelters.
Camp options include Critter Camp for grades 1–2, Care Crew for grades 3–5, and Animal Allies for grades 6–8. Multiple sessions will be offered throughout June and July.
Organizers say scholarship assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis to help families with camp costs. Additional information and registration details are available through Lee College.
