Good morning, Friends👋
Today is National Rescue Dog Day — a reminder that some of the best companions in life are simply waiting for someone to give them a second chance. 🐶❤️ Whether they’re big, small, young, old, goofy, shy, or somewhere in between, shelter dogs have a special way of bringing love and loyalty into a home.
If you’ve ever thought about adopting or fostering, this is a great time to take a look at the dogs waiting at local shelters in Baytown, Mont Belvieu, and La Porte. Even if adopting isn’t possible right now, shelters can always use donations, volunteers, or simply help spreading the word. And for parents and grandparents, it’s also a great opportunity to teach kids about kindness, empathy, and responsible pet care.
Have a wonderful Wednesday, stay safe out there, and maybe give your furry family members an extra treat or belly rub today!🐶

Baytown Police Investigating Shooting at Nursing Home; Suspect Caught After Chase
The Baytown Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon outside a nursing home in the 4100 block of Allenbrook Drive.
According to police, officers responded around 2 p.m. after reports of a shooting involving two male acquaintances and a female who was standing outside speaking with one of the men seated inside a vehicle. Investigators say another male acquaintance drove by and fired multiple rounds, striking the victim in the leg area before fleeing the scene.
The injured man ran inside the nursing home and was transported to a hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition. Police said the female was not injured, and no other injuries were reported.
Authorities later located the suspect vehicle in Chambers County, leading to a pursuit on Interstate 10 involving the Chambers County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety. The suspect eventually crashed into a ditch and was taken into custody without further incident.
