We had several great items planned to share with you today, but unfortunately we ran into a serious computer issue that hasn’t been resolved yet. We’re sending this quick note from a mobile device to keep you in the loop.

Fleet Week Returns—Sylvan Beach
Event Set for April 19
After being postponed last year, Fleet Week is back and just around the corner, bringing a full week of events from April 15–22.
One of the closest opportunities for local residents to take part will be the Sylvan Beach Naval Showcase in La Porte. The event is scheduled for Sunday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sylvan Beach Park.
The showcase will give attendees a chance to experience interactive displays, meet service members, and learn more about naval operations and equipment.
Fleet Week events are designed to connect the community with the men and women of the U.S. Navy while offering a fun, family-friendly experience.
New 24/7 Emergency Center
Planned for Baytown
Healthcare access in the Baytown area could soon get a boost.
According to reporting from the Houston Chronicle, Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital has broken ground on a new 24/7 emergency care center designed to serve Baytown, Mont Belvieu, and nearby communities as the region continues to grow. The project reportedly includes exam rooms, imaging services, lab testing, pharmacy support, and around-the-clock physicians. Officials say the goal is to improve access to emergency treatment and help reduce wait times.
The Houston Chronicle reports the new facility is expected to open in mid-2027.

Baytown Police Hosting Safe
Prescription Drug Take-Back Event
The Baytown Police Department is inviting the community to safely dispose of unused or expired medications later this month.
The free event will take place on Saturday, April 25th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Baytown Public Safety Building, located at 3200 N. Main St.
This initiative provides a safe, anonymous way to get rid of unwanted prescription drugs—no questions asked. Proper disposal helps prevent misuse and keeps medications from harming the environment.
Officials note that certain items cannot be accepted, including sharps, inhalers, and combustible materials.
Community members are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to clean out medicine cabinets and dispose of medications the right way.
