Baytown Dog Recovering
After Brutal Attack,
Investigation Underway
The Houston SPCA is asking for the public’s help after a dog was found badly injured in Baytown.
According to the organization, the female dog was discovered lying near a wooded area around the 7000 block of Kings Drive and Royal Street. She had multiple deep wounds to her face, head, and shoulder, along with a fractured jaw.
A staff veterinarian said the injuries appear to be recent and may have been caused by a sharp object, such as a knife or machete. The dog was taken to the SPCA Animal Hospital, where she is now in stable condition and being closely monitored as she recovers.
Animal Cruelty Investigators are actively looking into the case. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Houston SPCA at 713-869-7722.
Officials say even small tips could help move the investigation forward.

Love a Good Book? This Month-Long Bookstore Crawl Is Calling Your Name
Love a good book or enjoy exploring cozy, one-of-a-kind bookstores? A great way to get started is in La Porte at Books by the Bay, located at 315 W. Main St.
The Houston Independent Bookstore Crawl is back for 2026, running April 1–30th, with 31 independent bookstores taking part across the area. It’s a fun way to discover new shops, support local businesses, and maybe even find your next favorite read.
Here’s how it works: pick up a crawl card at any participating bookstore and collect a stamp or signature at each stop you visit. Once you reach 15 stores, you can enter a raffle for special prizes. Visit even more, and you’ll earn additional entries.
When you’re ready, drop off your completed card at any participating store before closing on April 30.
If you’re looking for something a little different to do this month, this is a fun, low-key way to get out, explore, and enjoy a good story or two along the way.
