Emergency Alert Systems
Across Texas to Be Tested April 2nd

A statewide test of public warning systems is scheduled for Thursday, April 2nd, as part of an effort to ensure emergency alert systems across Texas are working properly.

According to the Texas Division of Emergency Management, the drill is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of local alerting systems and help communities stay prepared for real emergencies.

Both Baytown and Mont Belvieu will be participating in the test.

In Baytown, the Office of Emergency Management will conduct a test of the city’s mass notification system at 10:00 a.m. Residents who are registered for Baytown Alert may receive a text message, email, and phone call as part of the drill. Officials say this is only a test, and no action is required.

Mont Belvieu officials are also reminding residents not to be alarmed, noting that alerts will be clearly marked as a test and that multiple agencies across the state are taking part.

Officials say regular testing helps ensure systems work as expected and allows agencies to identify any issues before an actual emergency occurs.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed, but again, no protective action is needed during the test.

CenterPoint Energy has announced upcoming utility work in La Porte, with construction expected to begin next week and continue for approximately 12 weeks.

Possible lane closures and traffic control measures

Baytown Residents Invited to
Help Shape Events Center
& Library Renovation

Baytown residents are being invited to help shape the future of a major community project during an upcoming public forum focused on the ExxonMobil Baytown Events Center and the renovation of Sterling Municipal Library.

The Conceptual Design Public Forum is scheduled for Thursday, April 16 at 6:00 p.m. in the Tejas Room at the Baytown Community Center (2407 Market Street).

The project is still in its early design phase, and city officials say community input will play an important role in guiding both the new events center and the planned updates to the library.

Those who attend will be able to meet the design team, learn more about the timeline and planning process, and share feedback on early concepts. The goal is to gather ideas that help ensure the spaces reflect the needs and priorities of Baytown residents.

City leaders are encouraging community members to attend, noting that feedback collected now will help shape a project intended to serve the area for years to come.

Reminder:
Party on the Peninsula
is Saturday!

Don’t forget! Party on the Peninsula is Saturday! [March 28th at the Baytown Nature Center.]

The event was created to shine a spotlight on local artists who call Baytown home, and this year’s lineup features hometown performer Ty Laramore, known for bringing energy to every show. He’ll be joined by local favorites Zydeco Jay & Creole Pressure, along with DJ Boris for a night full of music and entertainment.

Best of all, the event is free to attend, with free admission and free parking for everyone. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, bring friends, and enjoy the evening by the water.

A variety of local food trucks will be on site, and drinks will be available for purchase from Dirty Daiquiri.

It’s shaping up to be a fun evening celebrating Baytown music and community.🪗
