Major Progress at Baytown’s
New San Jacinto Marketplace

Construction at San Jacinto Marketplace is reaching a major milestone as the long-awaited redevelopment of the former San Jacinto Mall site begins going vertical.

Walls are now being erected for the Dick’s Sporting Goods building, marking one of the first major structures taking shape at the project.

According to the developer, Fidelis, the development has already completed significant groundwork, including about 1.4 million square feet of paving and more than 10 miles of underground utilities. Two new internal roads — Lone Star Boulevard and Independence Boulevard — are also nearing completion.

Several national retailers are expected to follow soon, including HomeGoods, Burlington, Havertys, Barnes & Noble, Ross, and Five Below, with developers saying many stores could open before Christmas if construction continues on schedule.

Meanwhile, Sam’s Club is building its own store on site, with foundation work underway. A Pluckers restaurant has also signed a lease and is expected to begin site work later this year.

The San Jacinto Marketplace is expected to open in phases beginning in late 2026, bringing a major new shopping and dining destination to Baytown.
