Man Facing Federal and
State Charges in
Baytown Investigation
A man from Nacogdoches has been indicted on federal charges tied to the sexual exploitation of a child, according to the Baytown Police Department. He is also facing a state charge of super aggravated sexual assault of a child following further investigation.
The case began on November 28, 2025, when Baytown officers responded to a home after concerning material was found on a cellphone. Investigators discovered images that had been created using artificial intelligence and involved known minors.
Due to the complexity of the case, Baytown Police worked with the FBI. A federal grand jury later returned four counts related to child sexual abuse material. Investigators say the suspect used AI tools to create images using photos of a child he knew. Additional evidence uncovered during the investigation led to the state charge.
Police say digital forensics played a key role in identifying how the material was created and stored.
Officials stress that crimes involving children are taken very seriously and warn that technology can be misused in harmful ways. They encourage parents to stay involved in their children’s online activity and report anything suspicious.
Baytown Police Chief John Stringer issued the following statement:
“Crimes against children are among the most disturbing and serious offenses we investigate. This case demonstrates our department’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community. As technology evolves, so do the tactics of those who seek to exploit it. We will continue to adapt, work alongside our federal partners, and utilize every available resource, including advanced digital forensics, to ensure offenders are held accountable.”
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Baytown Facility Adds Heavy-Duty
Machine to Move Large Cargo
A Baytown shipping and logistics facility just got a big upgrade—and it could mean faster, more efficient work behind the scenes.
deugro, a company operating at the Cedar Port Industrial Park, has added a powerful new machine called a straddle carrier to its 50-acre terminal. This large piece of equipment is designed to lift and move heavy cargo, including containers and oversized items, weighing up to 95,000 pounds.
What makes this machine special is that it was built specifically for this Baytown location. Engineers worked to customize it so it can handle different types of cargo more easily, both now and in the future.
Instead of needing multiple machines or extra steps to move large items, this new equipment can do more of the work on its own. That means fewer delays, smoother operations, and safer handling overall.
While most people may never see it in action, upgrades like this play an important role in keeping goods moving through Baytown—supporting local industry and helping the area stay a key hub for shipping and logistics.
Want a better idea of what deugro does? This video gives a behind-the-scenes look at the company—note, it’s not about the new equipment mentioned above.
