AXIS: Baytown’s New Tool
for Tracking City
Performance and Projects
The City of Baytown has launched a new online transparency hub called AXIS, designed to give residents easier access to city data, performance metrics, and government updates in one central location.
The platform allows users to explore a wide range of information, including strategic goals, crime and public safety data, permitting timelines, infrastructure projects, and financial reporting. Residents can also view City Council meeting videos, transcripts, and audit results — all in a searchable, regularly updated format.
City leaders say AXIS was created in response to community feedback asking for clearer accountability and measurable results. The goal is to provide a more transparent and accessible way for residents to stay informed about how the city is performing and where resources are being used.
Recent financial data, including performance details related to the Hyatt Regency Baytown-Houston, has already been shared through the platform following a public audit presentation.
Officials describe AXIS as a central hub for transparency — a place where residents can easily find reliable, up-to-date information and gain a clearer understanding of how their city operates.

Issues on SH 146 in Baytown
Traffic remained reduced on northbound SH 146 near North Alexander in Baytown as repair work continued throughout the day yesterday.
As of Thursday afternoon, the outside lane and shoulder have reopened, but the middle and inside lanes remain closed while crews complete necessary repairs. Earlier in the day, traffic was limited to a single lane at the North Alexander exit ramp, with TxDOT taking over operations and Baytown crews clearing the scene.
Officials say North Alexander under SH 146 is not affected, and a full closure of the highway is not expected. However, drivers should anticipate lane shifts as equipment moves in and out of the area.
Repairs were expected to be completed sometime last night, though no exact timeline has been confirmed. Motorists are urged to use caution, expect minor delays, and consider alternate routes if possible.
