ExxonMobil Adds Third
Recycling Unit in Baytown
ExxonMobil has opened its third advanced recycling unit at its Baytown complex. This makes Baytown one of the largest advanced recycling sites in the world.
With the new unit, the facility can now process up to 250 million pounds of plastic waste each year. Company leaders say they plan to reach about 450 million pounds of recycling capacity worldwide by the end of 2026.
Advanced recycling helps break down hard-to-recycle plastics and turn them into raw materials. These materials can then be used to make new products, including fuel and plastic items people use every day.
By adding recycling units inside existing plants, the company says it can grow faster and keep more plastic out of landfills. Leaders say the goal is to support a more âcircular economy,â where materials are reused instead of thrown away.
Traffic Alert: Portion of I-10 E.
Shut Down Due to Sinkhole
A portion of I-10 East in Houston has been shut down after a sinkhole opened in the roadway. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and expect significant delays as crews work to make repairs.

Road Rage Shooter Arrested
in Chambers Co.
Chambers County Sheriffâs Office deputies quickly apprehended a shooting suspect less than 24 hours after a violent roadârage incident in Baytown.
On Feb. 1, at approximately 9:45 PM, deputies responded to reports of a shooting near Kilgore Parkway and Southwinds Drive. The victim told deputies he had been chased by another driver who fired multiple shots at his vehicle. Detectives immediately launched an investigation, recovering a bullet from a tire on the victim's truck. Using the victimâs statements and surveillance footage from the area, detectives were able to identify a suspect vehicle, locate it, and detain the driver.
Evidence collected during the traffic stop and from a nearby residence provided detectives with probable cause to seek a warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a secondâdegree felony.
The suspect, Christian Canales, of Baytown, was taken into custody and charged for the shooting. Bond for the aggravated assault charge was set at $200,000 by Justice of the Peace Precinct 2, Judge Mike Wheat.
The Chambers County Sheriffâs Office extends its gratitude to community members who assisted in gathering evidence, as well as to the deputies and detectives who worked swiftly to bring this case to a close. Acts of violence like this have no place in Chambers County, and they remain committed to keeping our community safe.
