With a winter storm expected to move in, todayās focus is on weather updates and practical information to help you plan ahead.

Winterize Your Vehicle:

Check tires, battery, and fluids.

Test heater, defroster, and wipers.

Keep your fuel tank at least half full.

Pack an emergency kit with blankets, food, and water.

City of Baytown Warming Shelters
The City of Baytown has been proactively preparing for this weekendās winter weather. As part of those efforts, the City will open a warming center at the Baytown Community Center. The warming center is scheduled to open at noon Saturday and will remain open through the duration of the storm.

In advance of the weather, members of the Baytown Police Department have been distributing blankets to vulnerable residents and volunteers have been conducting outreach to assist those in need.
Residents are encouraged to sign up for Baytown Alert, a free notification service that provides weather and emergency information.

Stay Safe, While Staying Warm!
š„Keep space heaters at least 3ft from anything that can burn
š„Choose a heater with safety features
š„Place the heater on a flat, stable surface
š„Keep space heater out of the way of foot traffic
š„Plug the space heater directly into a wall outlet, never an extension cord
š„Turn space heaters off when you leave a room or go to bed
