Baytown Hexion Site Gets New Owner
Hexion has sold its Gulf Coast formalin business, including its Baytown location, to an investment company called Ancala. The sale also includes facilities in Louisiana. The price of the sale was not shared.
A new company named Valentra will now operate the Baytown site and the other locations. The same employees who worked there before will continue running the facilities, helping keep operations stable.
Hexion says it made the move so it can focus on making newer, more advanced materials. These materials are used in industries like construction, packaging, energy, and transportation. Hexion will still supply formalin to customers in other parts of the country.
Company leaders say the change helps them focus on future growth.

Multiple Baytown Thefts
Involve Stolen Jewelry 💍
After several burglary reports over the past couple of weeks, Baytown police have logged multiple new thefts in recent days involving stolen jewelry. In three separate incidents, thieves took jewelry valued at more than $7,000 total from locations along Colby Drive, Raccoon Drive, and Massey Tompkins Road.
While investigations are ongoing, the incidents are a reminder that residents should be extra cautious right now—especially with doors, windows, vehicles, and valuables. Jewelry, precious metals, and small high-value items seem to be popular targets.
On a lighter note: if you’ve been meaning to clean out that jewelry drawer or finally use the safe you bought years ago, now might be the perfect time. And if your “hiding spot” is the sock drawer… you may want to rethink that.
Police continue encouraging residents to report suspicious activity and take basic safety steps to help protect their homes.
