Adoption Spotlight: Local Shelter Dogs Looking for Homes

Those two sweet pups from Baytown Animal Services [pictured above] are great examples of the wonderful mixed-breed dogs available across all three local shelters listed below. If you’re thinking about adding a furry friend to your home, these boys are the perfect reminder of just how much love is waiting for a second chance.

Meet “Meat Loaf” (A073074) & “Pot Roast” (A073075)

These two 11-month-old, neutered boys have been waiting nearly four months for a family, and they’re more than ready for their fresh start. Full of energy and personality, they’re the kind of pups who can turn an ordinary afternoon into an adventure—then curl up for cuddles once they’ve worn themselves out.

Whether you’re interested in adopting one or both, Meat Loaf and Pot Roast are the type of dogs who bring joy, laughter, and loyalty to the families who bring them home.

All adoption fees are currently waived, and no appointment is needed to stop by and meet the animals in person. You can also view all available pets anytime at 24petconnect.com/bayt.

Baytown Gets State-of-the-Art
Safety Training Hub

A new chapter in workforce safety training has begun in Baytown with the opening of the new Safety Academy created by the Industrial Safety Training Council (ISTC). The Academy is designed to provide more immersive, hands-on instruction for workers across the Gulf Coast, especially those entering or currently working in high-hazard industrial environments.

The upgraded facility features modern classrooms, dedicated practice areas, and bilingual instruction. Trainees move through modules built around the internationally recognized 12 Life-Saving Rules, which focus on critical topics such as energy isolation, working at heights, safe mechanical lifting, excavation, confined space entry, and working around mobile equipment. Each module is structured to build confidence, strengthen hazard awareness, and reinforce safe decision-making on the job.

The Safety Academy was developed through collaboration with several major Gulf Coast industry partners including including ExxonMobil, Valero, Motiva and more, aligning training content with the needs and expectations of regional facilities. The goal is to ensure workers are prepared to operate safely, consistently, and competently—no matter which site or company they work for.

With its new Baytown location, the Academy expands access to high-quality safety training for contractors, owner-operators, and individuals looking to enter the industrial workforce. The initiative aims to improve job readiness, reduce preventable incidents, and support a stronger safety culture across the region.
