CoolxDad Finds a Home in Baytown:
How City’s Fatherhood Initiative
Sparked a Powerful Partnership
CoolxDad’s arrival in Baytown began with the City’s commitment to strengthen families through its Fatherhood Initiative, supported by opioid settlement funding dedicated to prevention and community wellness. As the City worked to create meaningful support systems for local dads, it became clear that Baytown was ready for a partner who shared that mission.
That initiative is what brought CoolxDad founder Kevin Barnett to the table. It was the catalyst, the invitation, and the bridge that connected an established fatherhood movement with a community eager for deeper resources.
“When we learned about Baytown’s dedication to fathers, we knew this was a city aligned with who we are,” Kevin said. “The Fatherhood Initiative showed us that Baytown was not just talking about supporting dads. The City was already doing the work.”
Gaining Momentum
When CoolxDad announced it was exploring a presence in Baytown, the organization took its usual approach: listen first, talk second. What followed was a surge of momentum made possible by both the community and the City’s early efforts.
“Fathers started reaching out to us the moment the news went out. Community leaders opened doors and the City kept guiding us toward families who would benefit from this work,” Kevin said.
He added, “Baytown did not just welcome us, but embraced the mission.”
Kevin said the partnership with the City created the perfect launchpad.
“The City’s Fatherhood Initiative made it clear that this community was ready and it made us want to be a part of Baytown in a real way.”
The warmth and openness of Baytown families stood out to Kevin immediately.
“Baytown values faith, family, and showing up for each other. That is exactly what CoolxDad is built on. People here are ready to grow. They are ready to connect.”
CoolxTips Launch
It’s time for that connection as CoolxDad is ready to introduce its first local program. CoolxTips, launching January 15th, will be a series of meetings every third Thursday that provide guidance, tools, and meaningful conversations for fathers.
Kevin said, “This is more than a meetup. It’s the start of our rhythm in Baytown. We want every father who walks in to feel seen, valued, and supported.”
The launch of CoolxTips comes on the heels of a new documentary featuring Baytown fathers.
He said, “By capturing their stories of growth, struggle, faith, and resilience, we aimed to show Baytown that its fathers are already powerful leaders. The film wasn’t about shining a light on CoolxDad, but shining a light on them.”
A Vision for the Future
While CoolxDad’s Houston headquarters is a well-known hub for creativity, mentorship, and healing, Kevin’s vision for Baytown is intentionally unique.
He said, “The space that we hope to build here would bring something authentic, not a copy and paste of our Houston location. It will be shaped by Baytown’s fathers, Baytown’s culture, and Baytown’s families. That’s the vision.”
A vision for the future that builds on a strong commitment to the community.
“CoolxDad is not about perfection, but about presence. Our goal is to uplift fathers and strengthen communities. We create spaces where men can be honest and vulnerable. We are ready to build something powerful here.”
As CoolxDad takes shape in Baytown, the foundation remains clear. It started with a City that believed in fathers, invested in them, and created the spark that brought a national movement to the local level. And now, together, this is only the beginning of something special.

Baytown Police Report Several
New Theft Cases Last Week
Baytown police have reported several new theft-related incidents across the city last week, including multiple vehicle thefts and the loss of valuable equipment.
One report involved the theft of a red 2017 Chevrolet Silverado from the 7400 block of Eastpoint Blvd., valued at around $18,000. In another case, officers recovered an unreported stolen vehicle worth approximately $7,000 after locating it in the 7500 block of Decker Dr.
Police also responded to a theft in the 4000 block of North Highway 146, where both a vehicle and a large amount of welding and power equipment were reported stolen. The losses, according to the report, included more than $7,100 in tools, plus an additional $4,600 in power and hand equipment.
These incidents serve as a reminder to secure vehicles, remove valuables from sight, and stay alert—especially as the holiday season brings increased activity in neighborhoods and shopping areas.
We’ll continue sharing these updates to help keep our community informed and aware.
