Update #1 - NEWS RELEASE BPD:
Investigation Underway Following
Major Crash Involving
Baytown Police Officer
The Baytown Police Department continues to investigate the crash that occurred on Thur., Oct. 23rd. At this time, Officer Michael Hightower, a two-and-a-half-year veteran of the Baytown Police Department, has been released from the hospital following surgery for injuries sustained in the crash.
The Baytown Police Department is reconstructing the circumstances leading to this tragic event. Preliminary findings from in-car video and witness statements indicate that Officer Hightower had a green light and the right of way in the intersection where the crash occurred. At the time of the incident, Officer Hightower was responding to an in-progress “persons with a weapon” call in which an officer was on scene and had requested additional units for assistance.
The Baytown Police Department remains committed to conducting a complete, thorough, transparent investigation in coordination with our partner agencies. Additional information will be released as the investigation progresses.

New Details in Liberty County
Near-Drowning Case
Court records reveal new details in the Liberty County case involving Jessica Quintana, accused of trying to drown herself and her three children on September 29.
Investigators say Quintana told deputies she and her husband had been having problems and that he took her phone and car keys the day before the incident, preventing her from leaving their 300-acre property. She reportedly took her children to a pond with alcohol and Nyquil, where deputies later found her in the water and the children on the bank.
Authorities say one child’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. Quintana has been charged with aggravated assault and two counts of injury to a child. The case remains under investigation.

Another report from the 10000 block of Pine Valley Court detailed the overnight theft of a white 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Duramax High Country pickup, also valued at $60,000.
