T1 Energy Partners With
Talon PV on Baytown
Solar Cell Plant

Shares of T1 Energy rose Friday morning after the company announced it’s investing in Talon PV, which is building a large solar cell manufacturing plant in Baytown.

Talon PV, owned by industrial firm Eagle Group, plans to build a 4.8-gigawatt solar cell facility here in Baytown. The plant is expected to start operations in early 2027.

T1 Energy, which is also developing its own 5-gigawatt solar cell plant in Rockdale, Texas, said both projects are part of a growing effort to bring clean-energy manufacturing back to the U.S. The company said the Baytown and Rockdale plants will create jobs and help meet the nation’s rising power demands from new technologies, industry, and home energy use.

Both facilities will produce what’s known as TOPCon solar cells — a new kind of high-efficiency solar technology that uses the same quantum physics concept recently recognized with a Nobel Prize.

T1 Energy said its investment in Talon PV will strengthen U.S. solar manufacturing and help build a more self-reliant energy supply chain. Company officials said the Baytown project is also expected to benefit from federal tax credits for American-made energy projects.

Talon’s CEO, Adam Tesanovich, said the partnership “builds the foundation of U.S. solar manufacturing” and supports “America’s energy independence and national security.”

If all goes as planned, Baytown’s new solar plant will join a growing list of major energy and manufacturing projects choosing to set up shop in Texas — keeping the state at the center of both traditional and renewable energy production.

Driver Fleeing Police Killed
in Head-On Crash on Hwy. 146

A man driving a BMW was killed Friday night after crashing head-on into another vehicle while fleeing from police in Baytown, according to authorities.

Baytown officers say they first spotted the BMW driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed on Highway 146 near Alexander Drive around 8 p.m. When officers attempted to pull the driver over, he refused to stop and continued north.

Police say they lost sight of the vehicle several times before it crossed into Chambers County, where deputies with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office took over the pursuit.

A short time later, the BMW collided head-on with another vehicle near Crystal Boulevard. The driver of the BMW was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

A man and woman in the other vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.

Question Mark What GIF

Friday’s Quiz: What unique ability allows parrotfish to sleep safely in the ocean?Answer: D) They create a protective mucus bubble around their bodies.
Parrotfish secrete a gel-like mucus cocoon around themselves before sleeping. This protective bubble helps mask their scent from predators and may even act as a barrier against parasites like blood-sucking isopods. It’s like having a built-in sleeping bag for underwater survival!
