Grove Business Park Breaks
Ground in Baytown

A major new industrial project is underway in Baytown with the groundbreaking of Grove Business Park, a 46-acre development located off I-10 East and Sjolander Road.

The project will feature nine Class A buildings totaling nearly 439,000 square feet, with sizes ranging from 30,000 to 120,000 square feet. Seven of the buildings are planned as dock-high distribution facilities, while two will be crane-ready manufacturing spaces capable of handling heavy industrial needs.

The development is designed to meet the growing demand for small to medium-sized industrial users in the Baytown area, where vacancy rates remain low. With excellent access to I-10, the Grand Parkway, Highway 146, and the Port of Houston, Grove Business Park is positioned to attract businesses needing both logistics and manufacturing space.

The groundbreaking ceremony drew support from community and business leaders, highlighting the significance of this project as BCS’s first ground-up industrial development. The company views Grove Business Park as a step toward diversifying its portfolio while helping to meet Baytown’s rising demand for industrial capacity.

Covestro Baytown Plant
Adds Technology to
Reduce Greenhouse Gases

A major environmental project has been completed at the Covestro plant in Baytown. The company has added a new system called EnviNOx®, designed by thyssenkrupp Uhde, that will greatly reduce harmful gases released during production.

This technology can remove up to 99% of nitrous oxide and nitrogen oxide emissions, which are byproducts of making nitric acid. At the Baytown site, the system is expected to cut emissions equal to about 154,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide each year. That’s roughly the same as taking more than 30,000 cars off the road annually.

Covestro leaders say this upgrade is part of their long-term climate plan, with a goal of becoming climate neutral by 2035. Similar systems have already been installed at Covestro facilities in other countries, including China, with strong results.

For Baytown, this investment means cleaner air and a step forward in making the area’s large industrial base more sustainable.
