Congratulations to the
City of La Porte on the
New City Hall! 🚧🏛️

Construction is moving forward on the city’s new City Hall, set to open in October 2026. The modern facility will feature flexible meeting rooms, a convenient one-stop shop for permitting, and a welcoming public plaza and park — all designed to serve the community for years to come.

New Texas State Park
Coming to the Palo Pinto Mountains

About 365 miles from Baytown—just outside the small town of Strawn—work is underway on what will soon become Texas’ newest state park. Palo Pinto Mountains State Park, located about 80 miles west of Fort Worth and 120 miles from Dallas, is being carved out of 4,871 acres of former ranch land.

Once completed, the park will offer a rugged and scenic escape for nature lovers, with opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing, stargazing, and more. While no official opening date has been set, officials expect the park to draw as many as 100,000 visitors each year after its anticipated debut in 2025.

Strawn is preparing to serve as the “gateway” to the park. A major development called Big Bear Crossing is already underway nearby, featuring a full-service travel center as part of an 80-acre mixed-use project. Plans also call for a hotel, RV park, retail space, and industrial expansion—all aimed at supporting the influx of visitors the park is expected to bring.
