18-Wheeler Crash Shuts Down
SH-146 Southbound in Baytown

A crash involving an 18-wheeler shut down all southbound lanes of SH-146 at W. Main Street on Wed. afternoon, causing major delays for Baytown drivers.

According to Baytown Police and the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the crash involved two vehicles — including a big rig that ended up partially hanging off the edge of the freeway.

The male driver of the 18-wheeler was transported to the hospital as a precaution, and no additional injuries have been reported.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes. By the time you're reading this, we feel certain the road will have been cleared for quite a while — but the crash caused major delays and serves as another reminder to drive carefully, especially around large trucks.

Talke USA Breaks Ground on
Recycling Support Center
in Mont Belvieu♻️

Talke USA marked a major milestone on Friday, Aug. 1st, breaking ground on its new Recycling Support Center in Mont Belvieu — a project that promises to boost both the local economy and sustainability efforts in the heart of the U.S. petrochemical industry.

The facility will receive post-consumer plastic materials and prepare them for advanced recycling. Once processed into bales in Mont Belvieu, the materials will be sent to Cyclyx’s new circularity center in Houston, where they’ll be converted into ISCC-PLUS-certified recycling feedstock.

The new site on Langston Drive represents the next phase of Talke USA’s growth since establishing its U.S. headquarters in Mont Belvieu in 2022. Chambers County and the City of Mont Belvieu played a key role in supporting and funding the project, which aligns with community goals for sustainable industry growth.

“We’re proud to break ground on a facility that reflects our long-term vision for sustainable growth,” said Richard Heath, Talke USA CEO and president. “This groundbreaking marks an important milestone for our team, our customers, and the Mont Belvieu community.”

Alexander Boehm, Talke USA chief operating officer, also credited the collaboration that made the project possible, noting the contributions of Tommy Hammond and the Chambers County team, Cyclyx, and city officials.

Once complete, the Recycling Support Center will:

  • Support circular supply chains by processing post-consumer plastics for reuse

  • Advance mechanical and advanced recycling efforts in the region

  • Provide new infrastructure and jobs in Mont Belvieu

  • Strengthen the area’s role in sustainable petrochemical logistics

The groundbreaking ceremony brought together local leaders, industry partners, and Talke USA employees to celebrate the start of construction. As the project moves forward, Talke says it will continue sharing updates with the community.

🧠 Trivia is back… the old-school way (for now)!
We know—we said a new and improved trivia was coming. Then we ran into some “technical difficulties” (aka: the software got stage fright). 😅

While we sort that out, we’re bringing back the classic version you know and love. Thanks for sticking with us!

📝 Wednesday Trivia Clarification
A big thank-you to the reader who pointed out the extra layers in yesterday’s trivia question! In our original question about the first U.S. president to ride in a car, we weren’t quite specific enough.

William McKinley was the first president to ride in a car, but it was William Howard Taft who was the first to officially use automobiles as part of presidential duties. Our question leaned more toward the latter — but we see how it caused some confusion.

We always aim to keep things fun and accurate — and we appreciate your sharp thinking and participation! Keep playing along — and keep those brains buzzing! 🧠
