ExxonMobil Nears Completion of
Local Proxxima⢠Facility
A new high-tech materials facility just outside Baytown is expected to come online later this year, helping usher in the next phase of innovation for ExxonMobilâs Proxxima⢠systems, according to an Aug. 1st press release from the company.
The new site will supply raw materials for a companion blending facility that began operations in Huntsville in June 2025. Together, the two facilities represent Phase One of ExxonMobilâs global effort to scale up Proxxima⢠â a new kind of lightweight, corrosion-resistant resin designed for use in industries like wind energy, automotive, infrastructure, and subsea piping.
The Proxxima⢠technology is being developed and refined right here in the Baytown area, with ExxonMobilâs Proxxima⢠Systems Lab at the Baytown Technology and Engineering Complex already playing a key role since opening earlier this year.
According to the company, Proxxima⢠systems offer a smaller environmental footprint compared to conventional epoxy resins, with production-to-sale lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions estimated to be about 60% lower.
By building both the raw material facility near Baytown and the Proxxima⢠lab locally, ExxonMobil is continuing to invest in the region as it pushes forward into the next era of manufacturing and materials innovation.
The company says this is just Phase One of a three-phase global rollout, aimed at making Proxxima⢠a cornerstone of its lower-emissions materials strategy.
For Baytown, itâs another sign that the area continues to play a central role in ExxonMobilâs energy transition and next-gen materials development.

Officer Schwausch Recognized for
Leadership and Commitment
The Baytown Police Department recently spotlighted Officer Schwausch for his exceptional commitment to traffic safety, teamwork, and public service.
Praised by his direct supervisor, Officer Schwausch currently leads the department in DWI arrests â helping keep impaired drivers off Baytown roads and contributing significantly to public safety. Heâs also known for his strong team-first attitude, regularly assisting fellow patrol officers on calls, even beyond his assigned duties.
In addition to his patrol work, Officer Schwausch wears many hats. Heâs a certified Drug Recognition Expert, trained to identify drivers under the influence of drugs. He also operates drones and high-water vehicles, serves as an instructor for the department, and brings past experience with the Special Response Team and firearms training.
Off the clock, Officer Schwausch has a few fun facts of his own:
He was named after famed illusionist Harry Houdini
Heâs half Colombian and fluent in Spanish
His favorite energy drink? Celsius Arctic Vibe
His favorite quote: âLife is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.â
When heâs not working, youâll likely find him relaxing â or on something with a motor (the faster, the better). He says he prefers working night shifts, especially with the âNights Bâ team, adding, âNights B is the place to be.â
Thank you, Officer Schwausch, for your dedication and for helping keep Baytown safe every day.
