17-Year-Old Killed in Multi-Vehicle
Crash on Fred Hartman Bridge
A tragic crash on the Fred Hartman Bridge Thursday afternoon claimed the life of a 17-year-old motorcyclist.
The accident occurred just before noon in the southbound lanes between La Porte and Baytown. Authorities say at least three vehicles were involved, one of which was a motorcycle. Deputies from Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office were dispatched to the scene around 11:57 a.m.
Upon arrival, they found the 17-year-old male motorcycle rider unresponsive. Despite efforts to provide medical aid, and the swift arrival of Baytown Fire and EMS, the teen was pronounced dead at the scene.
The southbound lanes of the bridge were shut down for several hours as crash investigators with Precinct 8 worked to determine the cause of the accident. Lanes reopened shortly after 3:30 p.m.
The incident remains under investigation.

Physical impairments like limited mobility or the need for assistive devices
Sensory conditions such as blindness, low vision, deafness, and hearing loss
Mental health disorders including PTSD, bipolar disorder, and depression
Cognitive and learning disabilities like autism and dyslexia
