Even in the heart of summer, Baytown residents are feeling under the weather.

According to data from Houston Methodist, COVID-19 and rhinovirus have been more prevalent than other illnesses like flu or RSV in Baytown from May through July. In fact, Houston Methodist’s Baytown and Texas Medical Center locations reported the highest COVID-19 rates among their sites across the region.

While other communities like Katy and League City are also seeing spikes in strep throat and upper respiratory infections, Baytown's standout illnesses remain COVID and the common cold.

Health experts say summer travel and the spread of new variants, like the Nimbus strain, are contributing to the rise in cases statewide.

Baytown’s “Lover: The Unofficial Eras Tour” (Pirates Bay’s version) is set to take the stage on Friday, July 25th from 5-9 PM at Pirates Bay Waterpark. Tickets are just $29.99 per guest (FREE Admission for Season Pass Holders).
