Golden Corral Is Coming
Back to Baytown!š½
Big news for local food lovers: Golden Corral is bringing its legendary buffet back to Baytown!
The new location is part of the chainās nationwide push to expand into high-demand markets. According to CEO Lance Trenary, Golden Corral is advertising nationally nearly every week, building strong brand awarenessāeven in areas that donāt yet have a restaurant.
āWe know thereās pent-up demand,ā Trenary said. āPeople either drive to the nearest Golden Corral or they miss out. We want to change that.ā
To accelerate growth, Golden Corral is rolling out a variety of restaurant sizes and development optionsāmaking it easier for franchisees to invest and bring the brand to more communities. The Baytown location will be one of the companyās newer, mid-sized buffet restaurants, expected to be between 6,500 and 7,000 square feet with seating for around 250 guests.
Even with a smaller footprint, the new Baytown restaurant will still feature Golden Corralās full 160-item buffet. The layout has been reimagined for efficiency and includes expanded off-premise options: a dedicated To Go station, weigh-and-pay service, and separate entrance for third-party delivery pickups.
With this more flexible model, Golden Corral has also started converting existing buildings, including former retail spaces. āWeāre doing everything from ground-up construction to repurposing old stores,ā said Trenary.
Construction timelines can vary, but a standard Golden Corral takes about six to eight months to build. Weāll be keeping an eye on progressāand looking forward to the first plates coming off that buffet line right here in Baytown.
Editorās Note: While we donāt have an exact address just yet, itās our understanding that the new Golden Corral will be located along the I-10 frontage roadāsomewhere near Mamboās Seafood/Salt Grass Steakhouse/Cheddarās.
Stay tuned⦠and donāt miss an issue of the newsletter for the latest updates!

CoolxDad Goes National: Founder
Spotlighted on NBCās Today Show
Baytownās partnership with CoolxDad, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting and celebrating fatherhood, has reached the national spotlight. Kevin Barnett, founder of the organization, was recently featured on NBCās Today Show to discuss his mission of empowering fathers through resources, mentorship, and community connection.
Earlier this year, the City of Baytown teamed up with CoolxDad to launch a city-wide initiative promoting responsible and engaged fatherhood. The program includes events, conversations, cooking classes, and support resources aimed at helping dads at every stage of parenting.
On the national broadcast, Barnett shared his personal journey as a father and the inspiration behind starting CoolxDad. He described how the organization creates a space for dads to connect, learn, and growāhelping them become more active and positive influences in their childrenās lives.
During the segment, Barnett was surprised with a $10,000 donation from H-E-B, a major Texas-based grocer, to support CoolxDadās continued work. The emotional moment underscored the growing recognition of his efforts and the impact the organization is having both locally and beyond.
CoolxDadās goal, as Barnett put it on the show, is to become āthe number one fatherhood resource in the world.ā With national exposure and growing community support, that goal is looking more achievable than ever.

Baytown Cold Storage Facility
Secures $78M Refinancing
A newly built cold storage facility at 7818 Fisher Road in Baytown has just received a $78 million refinancing loan, according to a June 13th announcement.
The 281,849-square-foot facility is located on a 30.7-acre site inside the TGS Cedar Port Industrial Park, one of the largest industrial parks in the U.S. The site offers a variety of temperature-controlled storage areas, supporting both frozen and refrigerated goods.
The loan was provided by PGIM Real Estate, which also financed the propertyās original construction. The borrower is a joint venture between BG Capital, based in Philadelphia, and Freezpak Logistics, a cold storage operator.
This major investment underscores Baytownās growing role as a logistics and industrial hub in the greater Houston area.
