Sushi Haya Expanding to Baytown with
Full Bar and Tabletop Grilling Experience

Baytown food lovers will be looking forward to a new destination for fresh sushi and sizzling Japanese barbecue. Sushi Haya, a growing Japanese restaurant group known for its all-you-can-eat sushi and authentic Japanese cuisine, has announced plans to open a 5,057-square-foot restaurant at 6280 Garth Rd, Suite 120.

This will mark Sushi Haya’s fifth location in Texas, and the restaurant group is promising more than just a new address. The Baytown restaurant will feature an upgraded menu, including the introduction of Japanese BBQ, or Yakiniku, offering diners an interactive grilling experience right at their table. Alongside these new offerings, guests can also expect a full-service bar and expanded drink options to complement the menu.

The restaurant is scheduled to begin construction in September 2025, with completion anticipated by April 2026. The total investment for the buildout is estimated at $700,000, reflecting Sushi Haya’s commitment to delivering a high-quality dining experience.

Known for its all-you-can-eat Japanese cuisine, Sushi Haya first opened in January 2022 and has since earned a reputation for serving fresh, high-quality ingredients in a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. Whether dining for a special occasion or enjoying a casual meal, Sushi Haya aims to provide exceptional service and a menu that appeals to both sushi enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

With this new Baytown location, the restaurant group looks forward to bringing its popular mix of sushi, grilled specialties, and exceptional hospitality to a brand-new audience.

Lee College Awarded $94K to
Train Students for HVAC Careers

Lee College is receiving $94,296 from the Texas Workforce Commission’s Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant program, Governor Greg Abbott announced this week. The funding is specifically designated to train 60 students for careers as HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) mechanics, supporting both local job readiness and regional workforce needs.

The grant will be used to purchase industry-standard training equipment, giving students hands-on experience with HVAC systems—an essential trade in high demand throughout Texas.

Lee College is one of ten colleges in the Gulf Coast region awarded a share of over $2.4 million through the JET program. The initiative aims to support public community and technical colleges in equipping students for high-growth occupations.

With this new funding, Lee College continues its role as a key training provider for the Greater Baytown area, offering residents the chance to develop practical skills that lead directly to employment in essential fields like HVAC.

Other colleges receiving JET funds include Alvin Community College, Houston Community College, San Jacinto College, and Texas State Technical College, among others.
