Baytown Fire Department Responds to
Early Morning House Fire
on Juarez Street
At approximately 4:00 a.m. on Tues., May 20th, the Baytown Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 6700 block of Juarez Street. Upon arrival, crews found heavy flames coming from the home and immediately began fire suppression operations.
During the incident, a Baytown firefighter suffered a medical emergency and a mayday was declared. The firefighter was quickly removed from the structure by fellow crew members and transported to Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital, where they were treated and later released in stable condition.
Additionally, one civilian was treated on scene for smoke inhalation and declined transport to the hospital.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Baytown Apartment Residents Still Facing Issues, But Change Is Underway
Tenants at the Providence at Baytown apartment complex continue to face serious maintenance challenges, though some signs of improvement have begun to emerge under newly installed property management.
For more info click to see our previous article
For months, residents have voiced frustration over ongoing problems including broken appliances, mold concerns, pest infestations, a non-functional pool, and unreliable hot water. While the issues have drawn public attention, many tenants say conditions have yet to significantly improve.
Most recently, residents reported being without hot water for more than a week. One tenant described the water pressure as low and the temperature as barely lukewarm, forcing her to boil water just to wash dishes or bathe her children. Another resident said hot water briefly returned but disappeared again within hours. She also noted that her oven has been broken for two months, despite repeated requests for repairs.
Mold or mildew-like growth in children's bedrooms and unresolved plumbing issues were also among the complaints. One resident revealed that a temporary fix in her bathroom left a visible hole exposing a downstairs unit. Another pointed to a damaged door that had not been repaired.
Despite these conditions, hope may be on the horizon. The complex has recently come under new management, with the current manager taking over on May 1. She stated that the property's boiler has now been fixed, the once-green pool is clean, and additional maintenance concerns are being addressed as part of an ongoing effort to restore livability and trust within the community.
