Massive Energy Storage Project
Launches in Liberty County
NeuVentus LLC has announced the launch of a new energy storage project in Liberty County that could play a big role in supporting the Gulf Coast’s growing energy needs. The company is developing the Texas Reliability Underground Hub, or TRU Hub, which will store large amounts of natural gas in underground salt caverns.
The first phase of the project includes two caverns that together can hold up to 20 billion cubic feet of natural gas—enough to supply homes, businesses, and industries when demand spikes or supply is disrupted. These underground storage sites will allow energy companies to quickly add or remove gas from the system as needed.
Starting May 14, NeuVentus will begin accepting bids for companies interested in reserving space in these caverns. This phase is called a “non-binding open season,” which simply means companies can express interest without being locked into a deal.
🛢️ Why This Matters Locally
The TRU Hub will be located at the Moss Bluff salt dome in Liberty County and is expected to support major industries across Southeast Texas, including:
LNG (liquefied natural gas) export facilities
Power plants and generators
Data centers
Petrochemical companies
Pipeline operators
The project recently received final approval from the Railroad Commission of Texas, allowing NeuVentus to develop up to 12 total storage caverns—eight for natural gas and four for liquids. Once fully developed, the site could store:
96 billion cubic feet of natural gas
128 million barrels of natural gas liquids (NGLs)
Or even up to 100,000 metric tons of hydrogen
The TRU Hub is designed to help make the state’s energy infrastructure more reliable and flexible, especially during extreme weather or peak demand periods.

Baytown Hospital
Houston Methodist Baytown Named
One of America’s Top 10 Hospitals
In a major recognition for local healthcare, Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital has been named one of the top 10 hospitals in the entire country by Healthgrades in its prestigious “Triple Crown” rankings for 2025.
The honor places the Baytown hospital in an elite group of just 10 hospitals nationwide to earn top marks across three critical areas: patient experience, patient safety, and overall excellence in care. This rare distinction reflects the hospital’s deep commitment to high-quality, compassionate care and safe medical practices.
The Triple Crown designation comes from Healthgrades, a leading national organization that evaluates hospital quality. To determine the winners, Healthgrades analyzed over 3,000 hospitals using patient survey data and clinical outcomes. The 10 award-winning facilities demonstrated exceptional performance in:
Outstanding Patient Experience
Patient Safety Excellence
America’s Best Hospitals Award
Houston Methodist Baytown’s recognition is especially meaningful for the Baytown area, proving that world-class care is available right here at home.
🏥 The Full List of 2025 Healthgrades Triple Crown Hospitals:
Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital (Baytown, TX)
Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital (Sugar Land, TX)
Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital (Shenandoah, TX)
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – McKinney (McKinney, TX)
Chester County Hospital (West Chester, PA)
Inova Loudoun Hospital (Leesburg, VA)
Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato (Mankato, MN)
Mayo Clinic Hospital (Phoenix, AZ)
Mills-Peninsula Medical Center (Burlingame, CA)
Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital (Lake Forest, IL)
With four of the 10 honorees based in Texas, the state stood out nationally — but Baytown’s inclusion is a particularly proud moment for the local community.
“This kind of national recognition shows that patients in Baytown are receiving the best — not just in Texas, but in the U.S.,” said a Houston Methodist representative in a statement. “We’re proud to be part of a community that prioritizes excellence in healthcare.”

Mark your calendars, Baytown! This Saturday, May 17, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, it's time to declutter responsibly at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day, happening at 1200 Lee Drive and Riggs Street.
