Woman Climbs Cell Tower in Baytown,
Comes Down Safely After Police Response

A woman was safely brought down from a cell phone tower in Baytown on Wednesday morning after climbing the structure shortly after sunrise. The incident occurred in the 600 block of E. Murrill Avenue and prompted a swift response from local police.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the 38-year-old woman already partway up the tower. Thankfully, she descended on her own without incident, and no injuries were reported.

Police detained the woman for her safety and transported her to a local medical facility for evaluation. Authorities have not disclosed her identity and say the motive behind the climb remains unclear. However, officials confirmed the situation was resolved peacefully and posed no threat to the public.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.

Baytown Conducts Tabletop Drill
to Test Mass Casualty Response

Yesterday [Wed. April 30th], the City of Baytown conducted a tabletop exercise simulating a mass casualty incident at a major public event.

This important training, coordinated by the Baytown Office of Emergency Management, brought together all City departments to collaborate on emergency response strategies. Our teams operated seamlessly—demonstrating the strength of our internal coordination and preparedness.

We were also joined by external partners from the City of La Porte, Harris County, Liberty County, and the Texas Division of Emergency Management, who observed the exercise and provided valuable feedback during the post-exercise hot wash.

Exercises like these are critical for refining our emergency plans, strengthening communication, and ensuring we’re ready to respond effectively. We’re proud of the strong partnerships within the City of Baytown and across our region that make this level of preparedness possible.
