🌞 Good Morning, Neighbors!
Today is International Picnic Day 🧺, which sounds like a wonderful excuse to get outside, enjoy some fresh air, and eat a sandwich 🥪that somehow tastes better when you're sitting on a blanket. Whether it's a family picnic at the park, lunch under a shady tree, or just a snack on the porch, today is a great reminder that some of life's best moments are the simple ones shared with good company.
So if you get the chance, grab a friend, a family member, or a neighbor and enjoy a little time outdoors. And if the ants 🐜 show up uninvited, just remember—they apparently heard it was a community event too! 😄
Have a wonderful Thursday, and thanks for spending part of your morning with us.

Baytown Postal Supervisor Accused
of Stealing $3,600 Sports Card From Mail
A Baytown postal supervisor has been arrested after investigators say a rare sports card worth more than $3,600 was stolen from a package and later listed for sale online. According to court records and media reports, the card's owner noticed it was missing after the package was picked up from the Baytown Post Office and later discovered what appeared to be the same card being offered for sale online.
Investigators with the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General launched an investigation and arranged an undercover purchase of the card. Authorities say the operation led to the arrest of a 44-year-old Baytown postal supervisor, who now faces felony charges. Additional charges were filed after investigators reportedly discovered controlled substances during a search related to the case.
The case remains under investigation. As with all criminal cases, the allegations are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Chambers County Deputies Recover $50,000
in Alleged Senior Fraud Scheme
A routine traffic stop in Chambers County has led to the arrest of a New York man and the recovery of $50,000 that authorities say was stolen from an elderly Jefferson County couple through a sophisticated fraud scheme.
According to the Chambers County Sheriff's Office, detectives stopped a vehicle near the 810-mile marker on Interstate 10 in Wallisville on June 10. After obtaining a search warrant, investigators discovered approximately $50,000 in cash bundled with bank bands inside the vehicle. Authorities later determined the money belonged to a retired couple who had been convinced by someone posing as a federal official that their identities had been stolen and their finances were in danger.
Investigators say the victims were instructed to secretly withdraw their savings and hand over the cash for "safekeeping." The driver, Qinfei He of New York, was arrested and charged with money laundering. Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said investigators believe the suspect was acting as a courier and was not the person making the calls. Authorities allege he traveled from overseas through New York before coming to Southeast Texas to collect the money.
The recovered funds are expected to be returned to the victims. The Chambers County Sheriff's Office, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, FBI, and local prosecutors are continuing to investigate what officials describe as a larger criminal operation that has targeted senior citizens across Southeast Texas.
Authorities are reminding residents to be cautious of anyone claiming to be a government official who demands money or asks them to keep conversations secret. If you receive a suspicious call, officials recommend hanging up and independently verifying the information before taking any action.
