Baytown Police Search
Two Houston Homes in
Ongoing Search for Kalie Goodwin
The search for Kalie Goodwin, a Baytown woman who disappeared in April 2024, is continuing after investigators executed search warrants at two homes in Southwest Houston.
According to court records, the warrants were served following a recent tip. Police said the properties appeared abandoned at the time of the searches.
A search warrant filed in December 2024 outlines new details about the days leading up to Goodwinâs disappearance. Investigators allege Quan Flowers, who is currently held in the Harris County Jail on an unrelated murder charge, picked up Goodwin from an apartment complex on April 21, 2024, and took her to his home. That was the last day she was seen.
Court records state that the following day, Goodwinâs mother received a phone call from a man demanding money. During the call, she reported hearing her daughterâs voice in the background. A witness told investigators the call came from a home in Fort Bend County, where Goodwinâs suitcase and identification were later recovered.
Additional witness statements and information from an anonymous source are included in court filings. Those allegations have not been independently verified.
In a statement, the Baytown Police Department said no obvious human remains were found during the searches. Items were collected for laboratory analysis, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Baytown police.

Texas Rangers Review
Liberty Co. Womanâs Death
After Family Disputes Suicide Ruling
The Texas Rangers are reviewing the investigation into the November 2024 death of Sherry Novosad, a Liberty County woman whose death was previously ruled a suicide â a conclusion her family continues to dispute.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office, Novosad, 60, died by suicide inside her mobile home near Dayton. Her parents say the investigation was mishandled and believe she was killed.
Novosad was found dead after a relative was asked to check on her. Family members say she was discovered sitting upright against the front door of the home. They also say there were no signs she was suicidal. In the days leading up to her death, Novosad had gotten her hair done, made lunch plans, and was preparing to help her father with an upcoming surgery.
âShe would not have killed herself,â her mother, Kathy Hatcher, said. Hatcher added that she saw her daughter the day before she died and everything appeared normal.
The family says that by the time they arrived at the home, investigators had already concluded the death was a suicide. The Jefferson County medical examiner later ruled that Novosad died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the neck.
Her parents question that finding, pointing to what they describe as inconsistencies at the scene. They say they did not observe burn marks on Novosadâs hands, face, or neck â something they believe would be expected given the weapon involved, a Bond Arms Rough and Rowdy .410 derringer. They also say Novosadâs shoes were neatly placed beside her body, which they believe raises additional questions.
The family has also alleged that Novosad was involved in an affair with a Liberty County sheriffâs deputy. Her parents say that connection makes an outside review critical.
In a statement, the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that the Texas Rangers are reviewing the case at the request of the Liberty County District Attorneyâs Office and the Liberty County Sheriffâs Office. DPS said the review is ongoing.
Meanwhile, Novosadâs family says an independent forensic expert they hired identified foreign male DNA in blood spatter at the scene. They say they will continue pushing for answers as the state review moves forward.
The video below shows the independent forensic expert and Wayne Dolcefino.
