Local Jugging Report Highlights
Why This Time of Year Is a
Hot Spot for Thieves
Baytown Police responded to a jugging incident on Thursday afternoon after a report was taken in the 1200 block of West Baker Road. According to the police report, the case involved theft from a motor vehicle with $15,500 in cash reported stolen. No additional details were released.
As the holiday season approaches, jugging becomes more common. Criminals look for people leaving banks, ATMs, check-cashing stores, or any place where someone might be handling cash or important documents. They often follow victims to another location—stores, gas stations, or even their homes—waiting for the moment a bag or envelope is left inside a vehicle. It’s a crime of opportunity, and this time of year provides plenty of them.
Shoppers tend to run more errands, visit multiple stores in one trip, and carry holiday cash or gift purchases in their vehicles. That makes parking lots a preferred target for jugging suspects. Even a quick stop can be enough time for someone watching to break a window and grab what they’re after.
Police departments across the region remind residents that the simplest habits can make a big difference: avoid leaving anything visible inside your vehicle and stay alert after bank visits.
Fleet Week Postponed -
New Date Expected Next Year
Houston’s first-ever Fleet Week has been postponed. The event was originally scheduled for November and had been widely anticipated throughout the area.
The postponement was due to the federal government shutdown.
A new date has not yet been set, but the event is expected to take place sometime next year.

Slow Down, Move Over
On Houston’s crowded freeways, Harris County deputies with the Motorist Assistance Program (MAP) are often the only thing standing between stranded drivers and a potential crash.
Since 1986, MAP has assisted more than 1.1 million motorists — changing tires, towing vehicles, and keeping drivers safe at no cost.
💡 Remember: Texas law requires you to slow down 20 mph below the posted speed limit or move over for emergency vehicles and tow trucks.
Failing to do so can cost more than a fine — it can cost a life.
📞 Need help on the freeway? Call 713-CALL-MAP (713-225-5627) or dial *627 on Verizon Wireless.
