Two Men Injured in Stabbing
and Shooting in Baytown

Two men were seriously injured Friday evening after a violent confrontation at a home near E. Wallisville Road and Garth Road, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 8 p.m. to a home in the 5900 block of Rosemary Circle, where they found two people hurt — one with a stab wound and the other with a gunshot wound.

Investigators say a woman arrived at her ex-boyfriend’s house with her current boyfriend. An argument broke out between the two men, and the woman’s current boyfriend allegedly stabbed her ex. The ex-boyfriend then pulled out a gun and shot the other man.

Deputies say the man who was shot was flown by LifeFlight to the hospital in critical condition. The man who was stabbed was also taken to the hospital by ambulance, but his condition has not been released.

Authorities have not said what charges, if any, may be filed as the investigation continues.

Chambers County Issues Burn Ban

Because of ongoing dry conditions and an increasing drought index as determined by Texas A&M Forest Service , Chambers County Judge Jimmy Sylvia issued a countywide burn ban on Oct. 11th. The City of Mont Belvieu is adopting the same restrictions within city limits to help reduce the risk of wildfires.

During this burn ban, all outdoor burning is prohibited.
This includes open burning of any kind, like:

🔥Trash or brush piles
🔥Campfires or bonfires
🔥Burn barrels or pits
🔥Field or pasture burns

Outdoor cooking fires that are not contained (for example, a ground fire or open pit without a lid or screen).

There is an exception for enclosed cooking or heating/cooking devices—such as gas or charcoal grills, smokers, and propane cookers—when used safely and responsibly.

The burn ban will stay in place until conditions improve and the order is lifted by Chambers County.

Violating a burn ban is a Class C misdemeanor, which can result in a fine of up to $500, according to Texas Local Government Code §352.081.

Residents are encouraged to stay alert to weather conditions and use extra caution when doing any outdoor activities that could create sparks or heat.

This is also a great time to remind you all that open burning is NEVER allowed within Mont Belvieu city limits without special permission from our Fire Marshal and City Manager. Learn more about what is and isn't allowed by reading the full City Ordinance at https://bit.ly/3XYaQJo

T1 Energy Partners With
Talon PV on Baytown
Solar Cell Plant

Shares of T1 Energy rose Friday morning after the company announced it’s investing in Talon PV, which is building a large solar cell manufacturing plant in Baytown.

Talon PV, owned by industrial firm Eagle Group, plans to build a 4.8-gigawatt solar cell facility here in Baytown. The plant is expected to start operations in early 2027.

T1 Energy, which is also developing its own 5-gigawatt solar cell plant in Rockdale, Texas, said both projects are part of a growing effort to bring clean-energy manufacturing back to the U.S. The company said the Baytown and Rockdale plants will create jobs and help meet the nation’s rising power demands from new technologies, industry, and home energy use.

Both facilities will produce what’s known as TOPCon solar cells — a new kind of high-efficiency solar technology that uses the same quantum physics concept recently recognized with a Nobel Prize.

T1 Energy said its investment in Talon PV will strengthen U.S. solar manufacturing and help build a more self-reliant energy supply chain. Company officials said the Baytown project is also expected to benefit from federal tax credits for American-made energy projects.

Talon’s CEO, Adam Tesanovich, said the partnership “builds the foundation of U.S. solar manufacturing” and supports “America’s energy independence and national security.”

If all goes as planned, Baytown’s new solar plant will join a growing list of major energy and manufacturing projects choosing to set up shop in Texas — keeping the state at the center of both traditional and renewable energy production.
